About Me
I am a professional mathematics tutor and have been for many years now. Here are a few of the facts about me that you probably want to know.
- I started tutoring mathematics as part of an after-school program when I was in 8th grade.
- I helped pilot a peer-tutoring program at my high school where upperclassmen who excelled in math were paired with lowerclassmen who struggled with math. We both had the same study hall period, and I used this time to tutor the student in a classroom with a math teacher.
- I became a professional tutor in 2001 for J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College (part of the Virginia Community College System) and continue as a professional tutor to this day. (Note that this website is not directly affiliated with J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College or the Virginia Community College System, however, I've geared the videos here towards the topics and textbooks used at Reynolds Community College when possible).
- I have completed an Associates of Science in Science with a Specialization in Mathematics at Reynolds Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Liberty University.
- I currently work as an Education Support Specialist, Level III for the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at Reynolds Community College and am assigned to the math tutoring center called Math Central+. I support the STEM division and the mathematics department.
- I currently offer a variety of synchronous and asynchronous tutoring through Reynolds. These videos are meant to help students in developmental, 100-level and 200-level college math courses from any college or university but will be most helpful to those students attending public colleges and universities in Virginia, as course descriptions and objectives are consistent through the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Mission Statement:
As an extension of the gospel-centered ministry that I have here at www.danielwestfall.com, I desire to use the gifts that God has given me to help others and to glorify Him. God has given me a vision for who he wants me to reach and how I can reach them not only by helping them with mathematics, but by helping them understand how He is the Creator of all things and the Law Giver of all Natural Law--including the laws of logic and mathematics. "For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him." (Colossians 1:16). "For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse." (Romans 1:19-20, ESV). That is the basis of everything I believe and everything I do.
My resources that I make and those I share are primarily targeted towards students in college-level math courses--specifically developmental, 100-level and 200-level mathematics courses. These resources are not intended for middle school or high school students as they need to learn the techniques as prescribed by their state's board of education, but middle-school and high-school students may find some of the topics helpful.

Math Tutorial Videos
Below you will find a list of the courses that I tutor on a regular basis. They are referred to by name and course number as they appear in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) course catalog at courses.vccs.edu. You can find full course descriptions and a course outline for each of these courses there. Each hyperlink here will go to a YouTube playlist of videos for that course or a companion site for the textbook I've used for reference which already has videos available for free (I may come back and make my own videos for these courses later). If you see "Work in Progress" next to a playlist, it's a list that I am currently working on.

Open Educational Resources
Sometimes, students are looking for free online textbooks, worksheets or other materials that they can use at no cost to supplement the content they are learning in their courses. While these resources may not always be created from a Biblical worldview and students should be discerning when viewing any material making worldview statements and claims, these are resources that I have used in my job as a professional math tutor that you may also find useful.
