Romans 16:25-27--Doxology

Doxology
25 Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages 26 but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith-- 27 to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.

These are the final words that Paul spoke to the church in Rome.  If you are ever looking for a passage to use for a benediction, this is a great passage.  We are strengthened by the gospel which Paul names as his own because he identifies with and preaches the one true gospel.

We are also strengthened by the preaching of Jesus Christ which Paul makes clear takes place as we preach the Scriptures (at that time just the Old Testament and explain it in light of it being all about Jesus) as Paul calls the Scriptures "the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages," "the prophetic writings," and "the command of the eternal God."  All of these have their own way in which they strengthen us as mystery has now been disclosed to us, the prophecies have been made known to all nations, and the commands of the eternal God have brought about obedience of faith.

Then comes one of the more interesting names for God in the Bible--"The only wise God."  The wisdom of the world is foolishness to God and He is the only one who is truly wise as He knows all truth and knows how to perfectly apply it to bring out the best possible outcome in each and every situation.  The objective in all this is to bring Him glory through Jesus Christ.

He ends by saying "Amen" which is a statement of saying "It is true."  All of us who are in agreement can also say "Amen" along with Paul here.
