Proverbs 22:22-25 English Standard Version 22 Do not rob the poor, because he is poor, or crush the afflicted at the gate, 23 for the LORD will plead their cause and rob of life those who rob them. 24 Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, 25 lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare. The rich and powerful would take advantage of the poor and weak (powerless) people who did not have the money or influence to fight the right and powerful with soldiers or lawyers. The same thing happens today, and it is still and abomination to the LORD. The LORD says that He Himself will fight for these victims who can't defend themselves, and that He will destroy those who victimize the poor and helpless. The LORD will either take their physical life from them or take away from them everything that they enjoy in life so that they no longer desire to live nor find any joy or fulfillment in living. This is summed up in the saying that He will "rob of life" those who rob them (the poor and powerless).
Do not make friends with an emotionally unstable, hot-headed person that is always ready to vent, blow his top, boil over, give people a piece of his mind, cuss someone out, etc. You will be guilty by association with such a person who says and does things in anger and lacks self-control. Such a man seeks vengeance and wrath for himself that he should trust the LORD to provide in His way and in His time. Your friends will rub off of you and you will be sorry that one day you will start thinking and acting like this person. Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” (I Corinthians 15:33) Be careful that you do not get caught up in the snare that he lays for others but gets caught up in himself, or the snare that the LORD lays for him to entraps him and realize the error of his ways. Do not get caught up in the judgment that will fall on the head of such a person. Solomon says to keep your distance from them and to let the LORD deal with them. Comments are closed.
