Jesus Heals Many
29 And immediately he left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 Now Simon's mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. 31 And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.

​32 That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. 33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.

We again see the word "immediately" in this passage to describe the non-stop action that is occurring around Jesus at this point in His ministry.  Right after leaving the synagogue where he healed the man with the unclean spirit, he entered the house of Simon and Andrew (Andrew was Simon's brother, so this is probably their house in Capernaum, and that's probably where the synagogue was at where Jesus healed the demonized man).  Simon's mother-in-law was also living with them and as soon as they told Jesus about her illness, Jesus took her by the hand and lifted her up so that the fever left her (we are told elsewhere that He rebuked the fever and it left her).  It was obvious to everyone around that she had been healed because she immediately got up and started to serve them.

The whole area heard about what Jesus did for the demonized man and for Simon's mother-in-law, and so the sick and demonized were brought to Him from all around the region (they waited until sundown to do this because it was the Sabbath and some needed to wait until twilight for the Sabbath to be over so they could travel the long journey to get to Him without breaking the Law).  So at the end of an already long day, Jesus healed all those who came to Him--He didn't turn anyone away.  He healed many of their various diseases and He cast out many demons that day.  However, He would not allow the demons to speak because they knew Him (we already talked about this during the healing of the demonized man, so if you want to see why Jesus would make them be quiet, take a look back at the journal entry from 6/11/2023).
