Jeremiah 13:12-14 English Standard Version The Jars Filled with Wine 12 “You shall speak to them this word: ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, “Every jar shall be filled with wine.”’ And they will say to you, ‘Do we not indeed know that every jar will be filled with wine?’ 13 Then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the LORD: Behold, I will fill with drunkenness all the inhabitants of this land: the kings who sit on David's throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 14 And I will dash them one against another, fathers and sons together, declares the LORD. I will not pity or spare or have compassion, that I should not destroy them.’” Jeremiah tells the people that the LORD knows the day is coming when they will seek to fill every vessel with wine because they are so addicted to alcohol. They will want to drink their misery and pain and suffering away. This won't only be the common men and women who will be affected, but also the kings and priests and prophets. Everyone, male and female, young and old, rich and poor. They will all drink themselves into drunken stoppers.
Because of this, the LORD said they will cause them to attack one another. Fathers and sons will turn against one another as will mothers and daughters. The LORD will not stop them from doing what is harmful to themselves--He will let them suffer the natural consequences of their drunkenness. He will not have compassion on them or pity them or spare them He has declared that He will destroy them, even if that is by them destroying themselves. Comments are closed.
