A Vision of a Flying Scroll
5 Again I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a flying scroll! 2 And he said to me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a flying scroll. Its length is twenty cubits, and its width ten cubits.” 3 Then he said to me, “This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole land. For everyone who steals shall be cleaned out according to what is on one side, and everyone who swears falsely shall be cleaned out according to what is on the other side. 4 I will send it out, declares the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter the house of the thief, and the house of him who swears falsely by my name. And it shall remain in his house and consume it, both timber and stones.”

The LORD gives Zechariah another vision, this time of a flying scroll.  The scroll is 30 feet long and 15 feet wide (very large for that time when "paper" was very expensive).  The scroll contained the curse for the whole earth--one side contains the curses for thieves and the other for those who swear falsely by the name of the LORD (everyone on earth is reduced to be in one or both of these groups).

The LORD sends the flying scroll and its curses out to execute judgment on the individuals and households of the thieves and those who swear falsely by His holy Name.  The judgment will rest on such a person's house and consume it (not just destroying the physical structure, but destroying everything that he has--probably including his family).
