Proverbs 26:13-16

​13 The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road!
    There is a lion in the streets!”
14 As a door turns on its hinges,
    so does a sluggard on his bed.
15 The sluggard buries his hand in the dish;
    it wears him out to bring it back to his mouth.
16 The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes
    than seven men who can answer sensibly.

The sluggard makes excuses for not doing his work that aren't believable.  There are no lions in the streets of a walled city, nor are there lions along well-travelled roads (most animals know to stay away from people, and the LORD promised to keep the people safe from the wild animals as long as they would obey the LORD).  All the sluggard (lazy person) wants to do is stay in bed all day and roll from one side to the other--like a door swinging on its hinges.

The sluggard doesn't even find the energy to bring the food from the dish to his mouth.  It is too much work and effort for him to even take care of his own needs.  However, the sluggard imagines himself wise in his own eyes and will not listen to wisdom or counsel from anyone else.
