Matthew 9:27-34 English Standard Version (ESV) Listen: https://www.biblegateway.com/audio/mclean/esv/Matt.9.27-Matt.9.34 Jesus Heals Two Blind Men 27 And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, “Have mercy on us, Son of David.” 28 When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” 29 Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, “See that no one knows about it.” 31 But they went away and spread his fame through all that district. Jesus Heals a Man Unable to Speak 32 As they were going away, behold, a demon-oppressed man who was mute was brought to him. 33 And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds marveled, saying, “Never was anything like this seen in Israel.” 34 But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the prince of demons.” This next story also seems kind of strange, but recall that Jesus had just told many of the people He healed to tell no one about the miracle because it was not yet time for everyone to know His full identity and focus on the fact that He could work miracles. So, when these blind men recognized that Jesus was the one that was promised who would be a king in the line of David whose kingdom would be eternal, He stopped to speak with them. Again we focus on their faith and what they believed Jesus could do for them and one more of the signs that Jesus was Messiah was confirmed--giving sight to the blind. Again, Jesus urges them to tell no one, but they go and tell everyone anyways.
Jesus then immediately comes upon another demonized man, but this time in Israel, not in the land of the Gentiles. The man was unable to speak because of the demon's control over his physical body, but Jesus recognized the underlying issue and cast the demon out of the man and the crowds that had been following him saw (probably for the first time) that Jesus had authority over the demons. This made even more people want to follow after and listen to Jesus and the religious leaders that had control of both the religious system and the political system couldn't have that, so they told people that the reason this man had authority to command demons was because he was the prince of demons (that Jesus was a demon or was at least demonized). This will be referenced later in the gospels so hang onto this as this is a story they kept telling the people hoping that if they told the lie long enough, eventually people would start to believe it.
