Redemption Through the Blood of Christ
11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) 12 he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
15 Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant. 16 For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established. 17 For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive. 18 Therefore not even the first covenant was inaugurated without blood. 19 For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20 saying, “This is the blood of the covenant that God commanded for you.” 21 And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship.

THIS is what we've been waiting for and the One we have been waiting for.....this is our God.  No longer was the holiness of God veiled by veils and tents, but God made His dwelling among us (tabranacled among us) and His glory was veiled by human flesh, but just like the veil to the Most Holy Place was torn, the veil of Christ's flesh was torn for us to make a way for us so that by his stripes we would be healed and by His blood He may purchase our redemption.  Jesus met all the requirements of the Law that we could not and offered Himself in our place.  This is what my sister would call "penal substitutionary atonement"....Jesus paid the penalty that we deserved--death--and in exchange gave us that which we never deserved--His righteousness and His eternal life.

THIS is why He is our Great High Priest and and the Mediator between God and Man of a New Covenant.  The Father has been satisfied and the Law has been satisfied.  Death no longer has any hold over us--our bodies will die but our spirits do not have to face what is called the "second death" or "eternal death" in hell, but we can experience eternal life and abundant life.  But let us not forget that while this was in some small sense was done for the elect, it was done to bring glory to the Son and so that the Son could bring glory to the Father, because this was the Father's plan all along....from even before creation.  Do not become haughty and make this all about you.

We remember this New Covenant and the finished work of the cross every time we have what some churches call Communion and other call the Eucharist.  We remember the body and blood of Jesus that was given for us and we are to partake of the (unleavened) bread and the wine in remembrance of Him until He comes for us.  We remember not only the sacrifice that He made on earth, but the atonement that was made for us in heaven and that was sprinkled on all of us to make us holy instruments (vessels) for God's use and purposes.  That which Christ has made clean is clean indeed.
