Amos 9:11-15 English Standard Version The Restoration of Israel 11 “In that day I will raise up the booth of David that is fallen and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old, 12 that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by my name,” declares the LORD who does this. 13 “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when the plowman shall overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed; the mountains shall drip sweet wine, and all the hills shall flow with it. 14 I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel, and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit. 15 I will plant them on their land, and they shall never again be uprooted out of the land that I have given them,” says the LORD your God. Though the LORD has promised the destruction of the northern kingdom of Israel, He promises as day in which they will return and be restored. However, they will not return as their own kingdom, but they will once again be united with the southern kingdom and live once again under the authority of the rightful king that comes from David's line (there were no Davidic kings sitting on the throne after the Exile and we don't see any do so until the second coming of Christ when the long-awaited Messiah appears and sits on the throne of His father David and unites the Jewish people once again).
In that day, they will possess all the Land that the LORD had promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, including the land of Edom and all other lands where the people of God will live. The Jewish people will continue to live in the land given to the Twelve Tribes, but there will be plenty of room for the believers from all nations to live under the authority of Christ their King. A day is coming when the Land will be so fruitful and prosperous that the people will not be able to keep up with it. The Land will be flowing with milk, honey, and wine. The fortunes of the people of Israel will be restored. All that which was stolen from them will be returned. All nations will honor them in their favored place among the nations, and they will be planted in the Land the LORD has given them never again to be uprooted. This is the Word of the LORD.
